Sporotrichosis: 2 cases report and clinical observation of 97 cases during a thirty-two year period(1960~1992)


Abstract
I report 2 cases of sporotrichosis, which clinical types are lymphocutaneous and fixed cutaneous. Observation of 97 sporotrichosis patients, who were reported in The Korean Journal of Dermatology and its supplement, were made in the department of
Dermatology at Seoul Red-Cross hospital for the thirty-two year period from 1960 to 1992.
@ES The results obtained were as follow:
@EN 1) The male to female ratio was 1.2:1.
One forth(24.7%) of all the cases occured under 1- year-old age, and the next, in the third decades of life.
2) Occupationally, the greatest percent were farmers, 42 cases (43.3%) and the next highest, unemployed, 19 cases(19.7%).
3) The initial lesion appeared on the upper extremities in 60 cases, particularly hands(right hand predominant), and the lower extremities in 11 cases.
4) Of the total patients, there were 60 cases(63.9%) with a history of trauma before the onset of the disease.
5) Of the total, 73 cases(75.3%) were lymphocutaneous type, while 24 cases(24.7%), fixed cutaneous type.
